  • "Keep American Hi-5 Alive": Calling all Hi-5 fans! If you're interested in obtaining brand new "Hi-5" TV episodes, add your name here!

  • "Hi-5," the educational children's show, premiered in the U.S. on The Learning Channel (TLC) on February 24, 2003, and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Preschool Children's Series for three years in a row, in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
    "Hi-5" episodes currently air weekdays as part of the commercial-free "Ready Set Learn!" programming block on TLC (7:00 AM ET) and Discovery Kids (9:30 AM and 12:30 PM ET), and they are also shown on the Knowledge Network (8:00 AM PT) and TVOntario (8:00 AM ET) in Canada. "Hi-5" can also be seen on Discovery on Demand and Comcast on Demand.

  • "Hi-5" episodes started being televised in Latin America in February 2007, and you can check out the action here. We're thrilled to note that Hi-5's Latin American fanbase is HUGE and just keeps growing!

  • There are 70 "Hi-5" TV episodes shown on rotation in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. These episodes are summarized below and center around the following themes: Senses, Animals, Machines, Adventure, Games, Bodies, Wishes, Music, Colors, Making, Action, Teams, Wonderful, and Journeys.

  • "Hi-5" was created by the same team of people who developed the original "Hi-5" children's TV show, which has been shown on Australian TV on the Nine Network since 1999. All "Hi-5" episodes and CDs are filmed/recorded at the Hi-5 production studios in Sydney, Australia. The five original American cast members, Curtis, Jenn, Karla, Kimee, and Shaun, are counterparts to the five Australian cast members, Tim, Kellie, Charli, Kathleen, and Nathan. Each cast member has a specialty within the show:

    -- Making Music/Musicality: Curtis, Tim
    -- Word Play/Linguistic and Aural Skills: Jenn, Kellie (with the help of Chatterbox)
    -- Body Moves/Physical and Motor Development: Karla, Charli

    Note, August 2006: Two new cast members have joined Hi-5, with Yasmeen taking the place of Karla and Sydney taking the place of Shaun. The current slate of TV episodes was filmed during 2002-2005 with the original cast members.

Shaun builds a fort out of chairs and a sheet, and invents a secret fort club handshake. Karla gets all the members of the team to be the walls, roof and door of her Fort. Jenn and Chats have fun with a laughing cushion. Doctor Kimee sees three patients. Karla sings about feeling okay today. Chats reads a Circus story.

Jenn and Chats learn sign language together, while Kimee finds what she thinks is an echo in her magic wall. Curtis is stomping around in big boots (song: "Chatty Feet") and Karla finds different ways to walk and listens to how they sound.

Shaun plays detective and Karla sings and dances, wearing her happy, smiley face. Kimee makes a fun puppet before dressing up and playing Karla's shadow friend.

Shaun tries out different animal noses and Karla is a little pig who can't resist the mud puddle. Curtis is visited by several friends from outer space (song: "Space Friends"). In Sharing Stories, Karla, Kimee and Jenn play fragrant flowers in an enchanted garden.

Curtis uses containers of cereal, macaroni and water to make great shakers (song: "Shake Down Low"), while Karla pretends to be a rabbit, nibbling a carrot. Jenn and Chats sing about pizza and Shaun investigates the similarities and differences shared by watermelons and lemons.

Jenn and Chats are being meerkats, while Curtis leads a band of chimps to rain dance. Lion Karla thinks her roar needs improving until Jenn advises she can be a friendly lion instead of a scary one.

While Jenn pretends to be a giant ant, Shaun is a spider spinning a pretend web and singing a spider song. Karla becomes three different insects - a busy bee, tiny flea and little ladybird.

Jenn invites a fluffy yellow chicken to visit Chats and Shaun is singing a cowboy song as he rounds up imaginary cattle. Wearing cow ears, Curtis plays cowbells (song: "Yodel-Moo") and Karla sings a song as she milks Millie, an imaginary cow.

Shaun is a penguin, singing a penguin song with his penguin friends, while Curtis moves and sings like a Puerto Rican singing frog. Karla is a frog who hates getting wet and Kimee sings about orca whales - with interruptions from Jup Jup.

Kimee pretends to be a cool cat and Karla shows how to pet a kitten. Curtis sings with four dogs, working out the pitch of their barks and then Karla dresses up as a bat, hanging upside down on her swing.

Machines in the House


Kimee is a busy phone operator, while Karla works hard as a donut machine. Curtis has some handy machines that help him do chores around the house (song: "Let Them Work For You"). Jenn and Chats sing a bubble song to go with Jenn's bubble-blowing kit. During Sharing Stories, Curtis is an old silver toaster a family wants to replace with Jenn the breadmaker.

Shaun has a robot dog which Karla takes for a walk. Kimee overcomes problems with her home made traffic lights and Curtis uses a computer to make city sounds ranging from car alarms to jackhammers. In Sharing Stories, Curtis is a small crane (song: "Wayne the Crane") that saves the day when Kimee the elephant gets stuck in a wheelbarrow!

Farmer Curtis builds a wonderful imaginary fence (song: "Building a Fence"), then everyone helps Shaun work out what's wrong with his tractor. Karla is being an engine and her legs are like pistons, while Jenn offers to take Chats for a ride on her bike.

Machines That Carry People


Chats and Jenn go adventuring in a purple submarine. Shaun drives to the beach in his funky little car, then in a bus. Karla picks up passengers as she moves around like a train and Curtis takes everyone on an imaginary roller coaster. Shaun reads a story about Kaya (Kimee), her mom (Jenn), puppy (Karla), and her imaginary friend Worsher Blumster (Curtis).

Pilot Shaun goes on a rescue mission singing his helicopter song, while Karla is a fun 'dancing machine'. Jenn and Chats experience flying a kite and Kimee makes a time machine out of household objects.

Jenn and Chats sing a sombrero song and Karla is a Spanish dancing horse. Shaun goes on an imaginary adventure to a Mexican pyramid and Curtis visits everyone using the magic 'travel gong.'

Curtis pretends to be as tall as an elephant then as small as a mouse (song: "I Wanna Be Small/Tall") and Karla is also practicing being different sizes. Kimee retraces her steps to find her special silver watch and Karla tap dances in shoes with faces on them.

Postman Shaun makes deliveries to each of the team and policewoman Kimee stops a speeding teddy bear. Karla drives an imaginary fire truck while Jenn and Chats decide to be firefighters. In Sharing Stories, Captain Puffy Pants (Curtis) uses his puffy pants to win a race over Captain High Note (Kimee).

Adventure to the Universe


Jenn and Chats point out constellations in the night sky while space cadet Kimee works on finding the right space helmet. Karla sings as she lifts balloon 'moon rocks' and Curtis is the Keeper of the Night Stars (song: "Where Your Heart Is"), helping lost stars find their way home. [We want to point out here that this song is a favorite of Curtis fans everywhere!]

Shaun drops in on Curtis the rabbit, while Jenn discusses hieroglyphics with Chats. Kimee uses a map to find hidden diamonds while Karla experiments with making shapes using her fingers and arms, singing as she goes.

Jenn goes surfing, while Kimee the weather reporter has unexpected climate changes thanks to Jup Jup. Karla imagines she is the sun and does a sun dance as Shaun prepares for some obstacle games.

Superhero Shaun dances up a storm while Bolt Girl Karla strikes a lightning bolt pose. Curtis plays a silly singing game with the other members of Hi-5 and then Karla features as a fish - doing a groovy fishy dance.

Jenn and Chatterbox make a snowman, then Curtis builds a musical merry-go-round with five musical instruments. When Karla claps two plastic cups together, she can be a trotting pony, a slow farm horse or a galloping racehorse.

Shaun is working on his part of the dance for the Hi-5 Games opening ceremony, while Karla works at keeping a balloon in the air. Curtis plays instruments you might hear at a soccer game (song: "Funky Reggae Music") - like a referee's whistle and a plastic horn.

Jenn and Chats try to figure out how to get rid of hiccups, for good. Curtis, Kimee, and Shaun come up with sounds for eating, like a slide whistle to bring the food up to their mouths. In the story, Bat (Shaun), Bee (Kimee), and Possum (Karla) try to figure out what Butterfly (Jenn) could eat at the end of summer feast.

Do hugs have sounds? The hug club thinks so! Shaun has a heavy dream. Karla demonstrates remembering steps and going back through your day. Kimee jumps rope and talks about the importance of drinking water while exercising, but for some reason she can't seem to get a drink! David (Shaun) has a nice surprise birthday, even though he's in the hospital with a broken leg.

Chats is so sleepy that Jenn suggests the "Dance Fun Energy Workout" and some clean fresh air. Karla shows us "eyerobics," and how to play pretend instruments. Kimee tries to be the tallest in Hi-5, but no matter how big her platform shoes are, she can't get taller than every one else. You don't need instruments to play music, because Curtis shows us some of the many ways we can use our bodies to make music, and not just clapping! At storytime, Toby the Cricket (Curtis) learns how to make chirpy cricket noises, and has an adventure at the same time.

Shaun dresses up like a skeleton, and does a dance with his friend Skelly, and he has a great impression of a jellyfish to demonstrate what would happen if we had no bones. Karla pretends to be a push-button toy that collapses. Kimee's lunch "really" gets eaten by the cupboards when she pretends that they are a mouth and tummy. Karla rubs her tummy and pats her head, can you? Chats sings Jenn a lullaby to help her fall asleep, and it works right away for Jenn's teddy bear. Karla yawns and stretches in the morning. Curtis, as Cosmo the Dragon (song: "Dragon Dance"), enjoys knitting sweaters, which causes much amusement among his siblings until there is a cold night.

Games and Sport


Despite his enthusiasm, Curtis has some trouble in the Hi-5 marching band. Jenn teaches Chats some basics about Tae Kwon Do. Karla shows some different ways to thank people, like blowing kisses to an audience. Shaun exercises by playing different ball games. Storytime illustrates that dancing can be as much exercise as swimming or running.

"Three Wishes"

Imaginary Friends


Kimee thinks she's hearing things and finds some clues that she's not alone, like a bed and 5 feet prints... yet Jup Jup remains a secret! Karla sings about her imaginary friend, and introduces her feet to her ears. Shaun wrestles with his friend, Bag-o-beans. Jenn is grumpy when she wakes up because she had a bad dream, but Chats helps her see the dream in a different light. Curtis confuses his friends when he sings a song for his dog (song: "My Best Friend"), but they think it's about each of them!

When I Grow Up


Hi-5 is glad they grew up to be Hi-5 (song: "We're Hi-5"), but some thought about being other things first. Shaun loves trains and wanted to be an engineer, or maybe a city planner. Curtis wanted to be an astronaut. Jenn might have been a pilot. Kimee thought being a florist would be fun, but has trouble practicing when Jup Jup gets involved. And what is Karla doing to Curtis' and Jenn's hair?

Imaginary Places


Curtis has a Celtic harp (song: "Magic Land") and sings about a magical land with leprechauns and three moons in the sky. Karla shows some basic yoga poses, like the lotus pose. Shaun goes to Egypt, and looks for Queen Kimarina's secret pyramid. Kimee dresses up as a "wonderthing" -- you'll have to see it to believe it! Sparkle the Unicorn (Karla) wants to help get ready for the big party in Fairyland, but can't seem to find something helpful to do, until she remembers her magical powers.

Daydreams


Jenn and Chats talk about daydreams, and imagine they're at the seashore. Curtis and Jenn pretend to be firebirds (song: "Bird of Fire") flying to the music, but Shaun and Kimee mistakenly think they are birds on fire. Shaun has a dream guessing machine, and Kimee is his first subject. Karla rows around an island, at least, she imagines that she does. At storytime, dolls come to life in a kindergarten class after the children go home.

What If?


Kimee plays a "what if?" game, wondering what it would be like if things were different, without things that we need. Karla makes her fingers, arms, and legs like scissors, and then does a whole body jumping scissors -- jumping jacks! Jenn and Chats sing about coincidences when they end up buying the same hat on the same day without knowing it! "Speedy" Shaun gets ready for the big race. At storytime, Amanda (Karla) collects some little items to remember her island vacation.

"Feel the Beat"

Instruments


Kimee makes her own windchimes, but she needs to be industrious because her chimes keep disappearing! Karla hops out a song on a floor piano. Curtis talks and sings about the string family of instruments, and how it's a family of sounds. Shaun makes different things using shapes, like a guitar and a crown, and announces that he's the king of rock and roll! At storytime, the Junkyard Animal Orchestra meet in the junkyard every night to play music, on pot lid cymbals, paint can drums, and any other instruments they can find.

Styles of Music


Shaun is in a Latin American mood, and dances the limbo. Jenn surprises Chats with a "magical music box," which plays different kinds of music, like disco and country. Karla practices a leg slapping dance with Kimee until they fall over laughing! Curtis sings scat to a sad piano named Jazz until he remembers how to groove again. At storytime the band has a hard time deciding what style of music to play (listen for Curtis' Elvis impression!) and then they come up with Hi-5 style!<

Music From Around the World


Jenn and Chats sing about Funky Reggae Music. Karla dances to a drumbeat until she falls over! Kimee dances to Indian Music with ankle bells and finger cymbals. Curtis discovers a strange basket with a turban and an instrument called a tiktiri, and he becomes a charming snake charmer. Curtis reads the story of Serina (Jenn) who has a music box with Spanish Dancers (Shaun and Karla).

Music and Movement


Curtis plays different rhythms on a bucket and conjures up a waltzing couple and the "Lumpy Oatmeal Blues." Shaun finds a music machine that plays a real rockin' tune, a love song and tap music. An orchestra... conducts Karla! Kimee plans a trip to Antarctica. At storytime, Phil (Shaun) loves to sing in the bath, but he has some trouble when his brother Bill (Curtis) invites him to sing on stage with his band (song: "Imagine This").

Silly Music


"Blurg, ting, dop, stip" are the silly sounds that Curtis comes up with for his silly song, and some of the others help him come up with motions to go with the words. Jenn and Chats play a guessing game about silly instruments, like a kazoo, a slide whistle and thumb cymbals. Karla feels "fizzy." Shaun makes instruments for the Wild Music Band using boxes, elastic bands and pot lids. At storytime, friends do silly dances on a rainy day.

"Living in a Rainbow"

Jenn is happy, but Chats feels grumpy. Karla sings about ways to say goodbye, like blowing kisses and hugging. Curtis listens to the quiet... and then sings a song about his noisy family! Shaun paints his feelings -- yellow is happy, purple for feeling peaceful. Curtis reads the story of two daffodils (Karla and Shaun) and a red tulip (Kimee).

Animals


Curtis, Jenn, and Shaun use different sized tubes to make lion sounds. Karla struts around like a peacock, with Kimee for a shadow. Kimee makes a vehicle for her colorful stuffed animals. Shaun and Curtis ride around on broomstick horses. At storytime, it's little tiger's (Jenn) birthday, and her friends tell her to meet them at places like the purple flower and the green prickly bush, but she can only see in black and white.

Colors in Nature


Kimee paints a picture of a park, and discovers that mixing colors makes other colors of paint that she doesn't have. Shaun rows down the Congo River and sees lots of animals (including Curtis the Croc). Karla pretends to be a parrot with colorful wings. Jenn and Chats talk about the seasons they like and the colors in those seasons. At storytime, Rusty (Curtis) loves his blue rainboots and splashing in puddles.

Favorites and Feelings


Kimee has a belly wobble dance, but wants to make up a costume to go with it. Karla dresses up in fancy things and dances. Curtis makes "silvery sounds" and then goes up in his silver spaceship to check out the sound that silver stars make. Shaun paints a huge painting that's big and fun and all the colors of the rainbow. At storytime, a grumpy troll (Curtis) lives under a bridge and won't let the sheep cross to the juicy, green grass on the other side because they keep waking him up!

Jenn listens to Chats' heart, and they talk about the sound of a heartbeat and the color of love. Karla sings about her heart. King Curtis plays a musical game with his subjects, that ends in a collapsed heap! Kimee blows up balloons, but things get confusing when her ribbons start to disappear. At storytime, Zack (Shaun) doesn't know what to make of his new neighbor Zeke the Bear (Curtis), but they find out they have more in common than it seems at first.

"Making Music"

In Nature


Jenn and Chats make a home for itty bitty fish, and Karla swims in her own fish tank. Curtis has some very special singing plants. Shaun is a Venus fly trap, and even with his friends he can't help setting his sticky, tricky trap! Shaun throws balls to Karla while she catches them like she is a Venus fly trap. Shaun tells the story of Sophia (Jenn) and Georgia (Kimee), who grow from tadpoles to frogs.

A Work of Art


Curtis makes a musical painting, and once Jenn understands what it is, she joins him. Karla makes handprints on paper, and her face! Kimee gets different hats from Jup Jup, and does all kinds of dances, and then Karla sings a song about different hats and sports. Shaun becomes a magical, flying creature from his dreams. Karla creates several things out of a circle. Kimee tells the story of Ella (Karla) who LOVES to paint!

A Space For Me


Kimee is in a hot air balloon with a mysterious passenger on board. Jenn feels blue, but Chats cheers her up while they figure out what other colors she might feel. Karla sings about feelings that everyone has. Professor Curtis and his assistants study his magnificent mood music machine, making Professor Curtis so happy! Sophie (Jenn) and Sam (Kimee) find a box to turn into a fabulous fairy racer, but Steve (Shaun) and Scottie (Curtis) think it should be a wizzy wizardmobile -- how can they work it out?

A Surprise


Kimee makes breakfast for her mom, but as each tray keeps disappearing, she has to switch to smaller trays -- how can she make it all fit? Karla rolls around and stretches. Chatterbox knows an amazing tongue twister that might help Jenn get rid of her hiccups. Karla tries to surprise Curtis, but the surprise is on her! Shaun makes pasta, pasta, pasta! Curtis reads the story of a tall building (Karla), a museum (Shaun) and a greenhouse (Jenn) and the builder (Kimee) who connects them all.

Things Animals Create


Shaun is a weaver ant making a nest, but he needs help from his friend, Curtis Ant. Karla uses clay to make a queen ant. Jenn finds a bird's nest and shows it to Chatterbox, which leads to their nest quest. Karla monkeys around! Curtis discovers Filigree, the golden orb spider (Kimee), plucking her web to make beautiful music. In the story Jenn reads, what do you give a queen bee (Karla) who is tired of honey?

Song of the Week:
"Action Heroes"

Games and Sports


Shaun is the game show host of "What's that Action?" with contestants Karla and Jenn. Kimee goes puddle jumping, and with the help of Jup Jup, splashing! Curtis and Shaun sing a song where they add on actions. They play this game for the last blueberry muffin, but maybe they should have shared it! Karla starts a game with the gang where they take turns adding on an action after repeating the previous ones, then they really make it hard doing it to the music. Jenn tells the story of tobogganers who figure out the best positions in the sled so that everyone can see down the mountain.

Jobs


Jenn is rock climbing and pretends to be a rock climbing rescuer, but when she finds Chats at the top of a mountain, Jenn ends up needing to be rescued -- from her hunger! Kimee grows a passion fruit vine on a trellis, but is surprised at how quickly it does grow! Shaun is playing with boats, and then decides to play at being the lighthouse himself. Karla sets off on a walking, then a jogging, trip before dawn to get to the beach in time for the sunrise. Shaun tells the story of Ziggles the Zebra (Curtis) that walks out of the zoo, and uses his camouflage to hide from his keepers, Jenn and Karla.

Machines and Other Things That Move


Kimee builds a house for Little Bear, but thanks to Jup Jup, Little Bear gets bigger. Curtis has a machine that replicates himself so that he can sing duets even if his friends aren't around. Karla and Kimee are wearing the same outfits and sing a song about being the same, but realize that they still have plenty of differences. Jenn visits Chats to help her dryer stop saying flop-a-takka. Karla has a super zoomer vacuum cleaner to clean up Kimee's space. Curtis tells the story of some machines that are building a park, and then need to work together to rescue Daphne the duck (Kimee).

Super Heroes


Curtis plays music for the superhero Hyper-guy, but then decides he could be a superhero himself -- Mighty Guy! Superhero Kimee is ready for action, but Jup Jup has his own ideas about what kind of superhero she should be. Karla saves the day as a superhero! Super active hero Shaun has endless energy as well as a belt with special powers. Super Karla returns to show us more powers. Captain Zoom (Jenn), Fairy Fabulous (Kimee) and Superspy (Shaun) are surprised at the powers of a boy, Jiah (Curtis), and his terrific tool kit.

Action

Health and Fitness


Chef Shaun creates a healthy lunch, and tries to come up with a name for it. Curtis decides to workout more, and gets all of Hi-5 involved in a real Hi-5 kind of exercise... that requires a wig! Karla does some disco dancing on her own. Chatterbox teases Jenn with a jumprope song that has some surprises in it. Karla also does some hopping and jumping. Kimee reads the story of Sam the squirrel (Curtis) whose love for beauty and song prevents him from getting ready for winter -- thank goodness he has friends!

Sports


Jenn and Chats figure out that there's a better call than "Sui!" for the hog-calling competition. Kimee practices some different sports, but can't figure out why her equipment keeps disappearing. Karla practices tennis by herself. The silly games that Shaun and Curtis play leave them tied together with egg on their... shoes. Karla is the best cheerleader around! Shaun tells the story of the Dazzling Ducks (Karla, Kimee and Jenn) and their new troupe member, Dave-o the Disco Cat (Curtis).

T.E.A.M.s

When Am I a Team Player?


Shaun gets the synchronized swimming team to work together as the Fab Water Five. The Fab Water Five work as a team for the relay. Penguin Curtis needs to get creative to keep his hungry penguin band to keep the beat. Karla gets her feet to work together, by dancing! Kimee puts together healthy snack boxes for the Hi-5 team -- it's a good thing she has extras! Mylie (Kimee) gets a new music box with dancers Ricardo (Curtis) and Bianca (Karla), but is sad when she loses her old toy, Maxi the Monkey (Shaun). When Mylie leaves the room, Ricardo and Bianca figure out how to work as a team to find him.

Shaun is the leader of an unusual marching band. Karla is a snapping, scuttling crab at the bottom of the sea. Curtis is a little bird looking for a friend, and Shaun is a big hippo looking for a friend to scratch his back. Karla gets down and dirty to be a big hippo. Chats and Jenn are eager beavers damming up the river. The picnic for the teddy bears is spoiled by the rain, but they make a pirate ship and search for treasure inside the house, instead.

The international hopping team gets some help from Curtis when he writes a team hopping song. Shaun stubs his toe but gets some ideas about how to move the block on which he stubbed his toe. Karla rolls around to some gentle music. Chatterbox needs to figure out what Jenn is trying to tell her, but Jenn has lost her voice. Karla rubs her poor, tired feet. Latifah the Mermaid (Karla) goes water-skiing with her friend Waldo the Whale (Shaun), but they run into a sand bar and need to get some help.

Aliens visit Curtis to audition for an intergalactic record deal, but it turns out Shaunoid took a wrong turn. Karla does the Charleston for Curtis, but it turns out that he's not taking auditions for earthlings either. Jenn shows Chatterbox her marionette, and then pretends to be one. Karla sings about being a baby, then she is one! Jup Jup gives Kimee some ideas for a circus performance. King Liam (Curtis) would give his kingdom away to have more fun and be less lonely -- if only he could get his point across to Jester Jack (Shaun).
